Sometimes your skin care products can only reach a small portion of the skin. A layer of dead skin, environmental buildup and layers of sebum (oil) act as a barrier blocking essential ingredients from entering.

What you may need is a microdermabrasion treatment that lightly removes the superficial layers of skin (stratum corneum), while stimulating the blood cells and increasing the production of collagen. IPL Photorejuvenation

Another minor treatment with major results is IPL (intense pulsed light) Photorejuvenation, often referred to as a photo facial. IPL is used to treat your uneven skin tone, brown spots (dyschromia) and capillary blood vessels (telangiectasia). Advantageously, IPL also improves your skin tone and other surface imperfections associated with aging and environmental damage.

IPL-Photorejuvenation is ideal for any part of your face, neck and décolleté that suffers skin redness, tiny veins (telangiectasia) or brown spots. Light (low contrast) brown spots that were previously difficult to resolve respond well to treatment.

You can begin your skin transformation with a free consultation with Dr. Kim who will decide if this laser treatment that is customized for different skin colors and aging conditions is the correct one for you, with his discerning eye. One to three treatments are usually sufficient to dull away spots and imperfections. Additional treatments may be recommended for better results, especially for excessively sun-damaged skin.

You may experience a mild pinching or stinging sensation when the pulse of light is delivered. Medical cooling gel applied before treatment minimizes pain, making anesthesia or pain medicine unnecessary.

Your brown spots will start to darken and your skin may appear slightly red immediately following the treatment. The treated area may also be mildly swollen. This typically lasts a few hours and is a sign that your skin is rapidly regenerating! Pigmented lesions will continue to get darker and will remain that way for approximately seven days until they flake away. You will see optimal results within one to three weeks. Redness and broken blood vessels will gradually decrease as your blotchy complexion continues to improve. Eventually, your complexion will look refreshed and renewed.
